The Discipline of Religion Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal offers an exciting programme in the academic study of religion where the phenomenon of religion is engaged comparatively across and within cultures. We invite applications for a fixed term contract post at Lecturer level in the area of Religion Studies. The applicant must have expertise in Religions in South Africa and the broader African continent. The applicant must be an innovative thinker with competence in comparative religion and sociology of religion. Competence in digital research, research methodology, gender, social conflict and different forms of religious involvement in conflict situations will be an advantage. The applicant is expected to teach in the undergraduate and Honours programme and engage in research.

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: LECTURER

·       PhD or substantial progress towards a PhD in Religion Studies, or a related discipline appropriate for the needs of the position.

·       Appropriate university-level teaching experience

·       Active research in an area of Religious Studies.
