Student Invitation - Identifying IsiZulu terms and Promoting use of IsiZulu in research module teaching

You are being invited to consider participating in a study that involves research on Promoting Multilingualism and Indigenous Language Pedagogy: The Use of isiZulu in Research Module Teaching Among Undergraduate Nursing Students at a Selected University in KwaZulu-Natal on the 2 December 2025 for a focus group discussion.
The aim and purpose of this study is to explore the use of isiZulu in research module teaching among third-year nursing students at UKZN and its potential impact on learning outcomes. The study is expected to enrol participants in UKZN third years who are registered for the research module. The duration of your participation if you choose to enrol and remain in the study is expected to be one day maximum. The study is funded by University Language Planning and Development within UKZN.
It is also anticipated that the study will help understand the students' perceptions of indigenous language use in research using existing term bank. Ultimately this project aim to identify strategies for the integration of isiZulu in the teaching of research methods to the undergraduate Nursing students. This study has received full ethical approval from UKZN ethics committee ( BREC 00008557/2025) and the Registrar and respective Dean.
