The discipline of African Languages in
the School of Arts offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in a wide
spectrum of African Languages.
We invite applications for contract lecturer
positions in our Pietermaritzburg, Westville and Howard College campuses to
teach in Semester 1, 2026 (1st February 2026 – 30th June
2026). The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching at
undergraduate and postgraduate levels, undertake consultations with students
and contribute to administrative tasks within the discipline. The posts will
entail the teaching of various aspects of isiZulu literature and linguistics to
both mother tongue and non-mother tongue students. All teaching will be done
face to face.
Minimum
Requirements:
· A Master’s degree in African Languages
(isiZulu)
· At least 2 years successful teaching
experience in isiZulu at university level
· Evidence indicating
knowledge/experience of teaching isiZulu for both mother tongue and non-mother
tongue speakers

REMUNERATION: The remuneration offered will be in accordance with UKZN fixed-term rates
of pay.
