One of the countries most exciting new voices Majola is Inspired by the storytelling of Bon Iver, Paul Simon, Joseph Shabalala and Leonard Cohen. Jabulani directed his own talent with the pen towards a project he named after his mother, Jabulile Majola. Through his writing, Jabulani explores his complex identity with tremendous vulnerability and a voice that carries a depth of emotion matched only by his poignant lyricism. Folksy, lyrical and moving storytelling through song and music.
Adopted by a pastor’s family at the age of two and raised alongside 26 siblings, Jabulani’s life has always been shaped by the power of community, faith, and storytelling. He discovered his voice through church music, shaped his pen through poetry, and found freedom in genre - melding rap, folk, and soul into something entirely his own.
His latest offering, ISITIFIKETI, is a sonic and narrative journey, one rooted in time, memory, and identity. It is the sound of a young man who grew up with stories, using his own to bring the vast world closer. A testament of faith, a reflection of movement, and a celebration of becoming.
