CALL FOR PROPOSALS: STUDENT TRADING HUB – HOWARD COLLEGE
Student
Services Division in partnership with the Student Representative Council and
the Student Entrepreneurship Office invites proposals from registered students
to trade at designated student trading spaces on the Howard College Campus. This
opportunity is part of ongoing efforts by UKZN and the SRC to cultivate
entrepreneurial skills, creativity, and innovation among students, providing
them with the necessary resources, mentorship, and support to transform their
business ideas into viable ventures.
Eligibility Criteria:

Demonstrated
experience in entrepreneurship or running a business.
·
Ability
to pay rent on a monthly basis
·
Capacity
to commence trading immediately
Application process
Interested students must submit a motivation (max 2
pages) detailing the following:
a)
A summary
of the applicant’s experience and qualifications.
b)
Items
intended to be sold
c)
A budget
that outlines projected expenses, funding sources, and any revenue generation
models for sustainability.
Prohibitions
·
Fronting is not
allowed. The trading areas are strictly designated for UKZN-registered
students.
·
Food
cooking is prohibited in the student trading hub. Traders to only sell
pre-packed items.
·
Selling of
alcohol and drugs is not permitted.
Submission Guidelines
Interested parties are invited to submit their proposals by 17
February 2025 and should be sent electronically to mhlongom2@ukzn.ac.za and copy HCRC-StudentServices@stu.ukzn.ac.za and SRCE-SecGen@stu.ukzn.ac.za
Proposals will be adjudicated by a committee and outcomes
released to applicants. The right not to appoint is fully reserved.
