The Neuropsychiatric Genetics of African Populations – Psychosis (NeuroGAP-Psychosis) Study seeks to expand knowledge of the genetic architecture of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder in the African continent through large-scale sample collection and analysis in Kenya and South Africa. It also aims to increase understanding of the genetics of African populations, through various methods for biospecimen collection and enhance neuropsychiatric genetic research capacity in Africa through the training of scientists and supporting the development of locally-led research programs.
 
The research team is, therefore, looking for someone with good work ethic, good organizational and interpersonal skills. The person would also need to have an interest in research and have high ethical values. The Project Manager will be based predominantly in Durban (Victoria Mxenge and Dr Pixley Ka Isaka Seme Memorial Hospital).
 
The Project Manager will be required to:
The incumbent will be required to manage the NeuroGAP-Psychosis. S/he will be responsible for comprehensive management of the project in terms of tracking progress, budget usage, general administration and reporting internally and externally to funders and other stakeholders. S/he will be required to meet frequently with academics, administrators, clinicians, healers, various internal and external stakeholders to advance the research.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
•Masters level in Psychology/Public Health or equivalent degree
•Three years relevant mental health research experience
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office
 
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Fluency in isiZulu
•Proven project management skills
•Experience in working with multiple partners and stakeholders
