The SASL users at UKZN invite staff and students of UKZN to the 2024 “Listen with Your Eyes, Speak with Your Hands” program. The event will be held on 27 September 2024 at 11h00-13h00 at the Howard College Theatre.

This event is a key component contributing towards efforts to implement the 2020 Language Policy Framework for Public Higher Education Institutions. Our project plan, which has been approved for UCDP funding, aims to honour Deaf Culture, raise awareness about social inclusion, and dismantle communication barriers through a vibrant performing arts presentation.

Objectives:

• Promote awareness of SASL and Deaf Culture at the University.
• Proliferate the use of SASL within the university.
• Foster social integration of Deaf students within the broader university community.
